Residential Building Disputes: Nelson & Burnley

We understand that if you have had building work undertaken such as the building of an extension, remedial repairs, problems with an agreed contract, problems even if there is an oral contract with a builder that you may need specialist legal advice to try and resolve matters.

We aim on your behalf to take away the stress and strains of dealing with a building dispute.

We would arrange for a quantity surveyor in the appropriate case to assess the quality of work completed and advise on what work is needed to put the matters right.

If that work cannot be dealt with by the builder as you have fallen out then we would advise you to seek an alternative builder to carry out the work in line with the surveyors report and then to try and recover the monies on your behalf for the original substandard work.

We understand that building disputes can be very stressful and expensive and we aim to take that pressure away from you. It is very important when dealing with a building dispute that you keep details of any communications between yourself and the builder and any photographic evidence of the work undertaken.

It is very important as well that you keep details of any contracts that you enter into and that if there is disputes relating to those we will aim to resolve those as best as possible for you. Disputes of this nature can now be dealt with through the courts or via a mediation process with a suitably qualified intermediary who would either decide orally or by looking at relevant paperwork to see who was to blame and what re-course should happen in any case.
